Mike mentioned that the AAPG Annual Leadership Conference is to be held in Tulsa on February 11-13 th. After some discussion it was decided that Vice President Robb Gillespie probably would not attend. No vote on this issue.

MESTA, the Michigan Earth Science Teachers Association, would still like to have an outreach with the MBGS but it seems a bit in limbo at this time. Tom Wellman has made contact with them via a letter.

Vice President Robb Gillespie stated that tonight’s speaker will be Kent Perry with the talk titled CO2 Sequestration and Gas Storage. December’s talk has yet to be decided, January will be WMU Student’s Night. February’s speaker will be Kathy Benison from CMU and her talk will be on Saline Lakes on Both Earth and Mars. SPE will be responsible for both March and April. The May meeting speaker is undecided.

The Holiday Dinner for the Executive Committee will be at Schuller’s in the City of Marshall on December 9 th. Robb will take care of the organization. Tom Hoane gave Robb a check for Schullers for $100.00 for a deposit.

Business Manager Pat Poli stated that the next meeting, in December, would again be held at the Coyote Creek Grill. Tonight we have 22 people registered for the dinner meeting. Pat said that school age kids really appreciate the rock kits that they receive when members give talks. Do we want to make our own rock kits? General consensus is no.

Newsletter Editor Tom Wellman stated that the preparation of the MBGS Newsletter is coming along well and that he is aware of one member coming to tonight’s meeting because of the e-mail reminders.
