This field excursion will allow participants the opportunity to examine the central uplift of a ~7km diameter impact structure with stratigraphy of 600m of vertical displacement from that surrounding the crater. Also, in addition to the ubiquitous shatter cones polymict breccia dikes, brittle quartz microstructures and quartz planar deformation features are contained within the quarry. The mine tour will be lead by John C. Weber, PhD, Associate Professor of Geology at Grand Valley State University.
